TCU HORNED FROGS (8-0)
at OKLAHOMA ST (8-0)

Boone Pickens Stadium - Stillwater, OK
Kickoff: Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET
Line: TCU -4.5, Total: 76.5

#8 TCU faces its toughest test of the season when it travels to Stillwater for a meeting with #14 Oklahoma State on Saturday.

The Horned Frogs hosted the Mountaineers last Thursday and defeated West Virginia 40-10 as 12-point favorites. TCU has now scored at least 40 points in all seven of its games and the defense has been very solid recently, allowing 21 or less points to its opponents in three of the past four contests. Oklahoma State, meanwhile, remains undefeated as well after a 70-53 road victory against Texas Tech a week ago. This was the most points the Cowboys scored this year by far and the team has now scored 128 points over the past two weeks. These teams have met just twice over the past three seasons and they have split victories, but the Cowboys won the last time they met in Stillwater. That was a 24-10 victory for Oklahoma State on Oct. 19, 2013. When these teams met last season, TCU came away with a very convincing 42-9 victory at home. One thing worth noting here is that all three meetings between these squads since 1992 have gone Under the total. Working in TCU’s favor is the fact that Gary Patterson is 27-12 ATS off three straight wins against conference rivals as the coach of the Horned Frogs. Oklahoma State, however, is 22-9 ATS after gaining 325 or more passing yards in its previous game under Mike Gundy.

Which one of these two teams will escape Saturday’s contest unbeaten? For the answer, connect to College Football Best Bets for all the StatFox Experts picks throughout the 2015 regular season and bowl season.

The Horned Frogs have one of the most potent offenses in college football and it all starts with the play of QB Trevone Boykin (2,927 yards, 28 TD, 5 INT). Boykin is one of the most electrifying players in the nation, capable of beating teams with his arm and his legs (524 rushing yards, 6 TD). He threw for 410 yards with three TD and one INT in a win over Oklahoma State a year ago and will be looking to find some similar success in Saturday’s meeting with the team. When Boykin looks to air it out against this Cowboys defense, WR Josh Doctson (71 rec, 1,250 yards, 14 TD) is likely going to be the guy he’s looking at. Doctson has had two or more receiving touchdowns in each of the past six games and has also reached double-digit receptions in three of those contests. He is a huge target and is as good as anybody at going up and grabbing the 50/50 ball. Defensively, the Horned Frogs are allowing just 24.5 PPG (t-54th in CFB) and that is good enough when the team is scoring the way it has this season. It will need a solid performance on Saturday, though, as the Cowboys have really played well on offense over the past two weeks.

The Oklahoma State offense has been firing on all cylinders in recent weeks and it has been the play of QB Mason Rudolph (2,482 yards, 12 TD, 8 INT) and J.W. Walsh (296 yards, 9 TD, 0 INT) that has helped this team over the past two games. Rudolph is an absurd 41-for-61 with 590 yards, three TD and one INT in those games and is really in a zone in the pocket. He is not making many mistakes and his accuracy is allowing playmakers like WR David Glidden (38 rec, 628 yards, 3 TD) and James Washington (31 rec, 588 yards, 4 TD) to thrive. Glidden has 10 catches for 171 yards over the past two weeks and will be counted on to have a big game against the Horned Frogs on Saturday. Washington, however, has been the top receiver on this team over the past two weeks. He has caught 10 passes for 303 yards and three TD in those two games and will continue to be the guy the Cowboys lean on moving forward. Defensively, Oklahoma State has had a great year, but nobody the team has faced is as good as the Horned Frogs. This defensive unit will need to dig deep and put together a great performance in front of what will be a crazy group of fans in Stillwater.
