Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregorSaturday, August 26th Las Vegas, Nevada Floyd Mayweather Jr. (Boxing: 49-0-0, MMA 0-0-0) vs. Conor McGregor (Boxing: 0-0-0, MMA: 21-3-0)Twelve Round Light Middleweight Fight Line: Mayweather -600, McGregor +425 Legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. takes on MMA icon Conor McGregor in a must-see, made-for-TV fight on Aug. 26. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is amongst the most decorated boxers of all-time, and with 49 victories to his name, he will be looking to bring his career record to an even 50 wins and zero defeats in what will be his final outing. His opponent will be UFC megastar Conor McGregor, who, despite his vast MMA experience, has never boxed professionally, and will be a huge underdog. Mayweather is a tactical and often defensive fighter, utilizing counterpunches after successfully evading opponents’ attempted punches. This strategy was on full display in his famous victory over Manny Pacquiao in 2015, in which Mayweather won by unanimous decision. The five-division world champion is 40 years old, and he has not fought since defeating Andre Berto in 2015, but he will be the overwhelming favorite in this bout. While McGregor has never boxed professionally, the southpaw is solid with his fists, and utilizes an aggressive fighting style. Still, the two-division UFC champion will have to be under control against Mayweather, a far superior and more proven competitor in boxing. With a win, McGregor could start a successful boxing career, but a loss would surely send him back to the comfort of the octagon.
