ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS (7-3)

at LOS ANGELES DODGERS (5-5)

First pitch: Friday, 10:10 p.m. ET
Line: Arizona +225, Los Angeles -250, Total: 6.0

Zack Greinke will be hoping to earn a victory against his former team when the Diamondbacks face the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Friday.

Arizona has been one of the more surprising teams in Major League Baseball early on this season, as the Diamondbacks have won seven of their first 10 games. Arizona has been the best team in the league offensively thus far, scoring 55 runs this season (1st in MLB). The team will be hoping to keep it up on Friday, but it’s not going to be easy to get to LHP Clayton Kershaw (1-1, 3.46 ERA, 14 K). Kershaw is coming off of a rough game against the Rockies, as he allowed four earned runs in six innings of work. That is not good news for Arizona, as Kershaw is not likely to pitch poorly in two straight games. RHP Zack Greinke (1-0, 2.31 ERA, 10 K) will, however, be on the mound for the Diamondbacks, so things won’t be very easy for Los Angeles either. Greinke had a lousy year in his first season with Arizona, but he has come out strong this season. He has allowed just three earned runs in 11.2 innings of work, and his control has been on point thus far. Los Angeles is, however, 15-4 against Arizona over the past three seasons. The Dodgers are also facing a Diamondbacks team that is just 33-107 against the money line as a road underdog of +175 to +250 since 1997.

The Diamondbacks are off to a fast start in 2017 and one guy that is really doing well is Greinke. The righty has looked like the pitcher that Arizona thought it was signing last year, so the team will definitely be confident when he is on the mound on Friday. The Diamondbacks do, however, need to find a way to get it going offensively in this one. One guy on the team that has done pretty well against Kershaw in his career is 1B Paul Goldschmidt (.270 BA, 2 HR, 5 RBI). In his career against the lefty, Goldschmidt is 10-for-39 with two doubles, two homers and eight RBI. If he can somehow go yard in this one then the Diamondbacks just might have enough to earn a victory here. OF A.J. Pollock (.238 BA, 1 HR, 5 RBI) is another player that has been able to get to Kershaw in the past. Pollock is 7-for-24 with a double, a triple and two RBI against Kershaw, and he will also need to come through on Friday.

The Dodgers will be sending Clayton Kershaw to the hill on Friday and the lefty is going to pitch with some fire in this one. He was not very sharp in his last start, so he will definitely be trying to shut the Diamondbacks out in this game. Offensively, 1B Adrian Gonzalez (.276 BA, 0 HR, 3 RBI) and 3B Justin Turner (.355 BA, 0 HR, 3 RBI) are two guys that could help put some runs on the board in this one. Both of them have had success against Greinke in their careers, combining to go 7-for-22 with two homers and five RBI against the righty. Turner has also chipped in a double and a triple against him, so he will definitely be looking forward to the matchup on Friday.
