GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS (59-14)

at HOUSTON ROCKETS (51-22)

Tip-off: Tuesday, 10:30 p.m. ET
Line: Houston -1.5, Total: 233

The Warriors appear to have found their footing without KD, but can they take down Houston on the road?

The Warriors have won seven straight games after suffering a three-game losing streak early in March, with their most recent victory being a 106-94 home triumph over the Grizzlies on Sunday night (GSW -11.5). With nine regular season games to go, they hold a two-game cushion over the Spurs for first place in the Western Conference at 59-14 (34-37-2 ATS). They get a preview of a potential Western Conference Finals matchup on Tuesday night, as they hit the road to take on the Houston Rockets. Houston is 51-22 (42-31 ATS) and riding a four-game winning streak after burying the Thunder 137-125 on national TV Sunday afternoon (HOU -5.5). Since 1996, home favorites that have allowed at least 100 points in four straight games (HOU) are 40-72 ATS against teams that have scored at least 100 points in four straight games (GSW). Over the last five seasons, March games involving a team that has won seven straight games are 24-4 Under against totals of 200 or more. PF Ryan Anderson is out indefinitely for the Rockets, but G James Harden will play Tuesday night after hurting his wrist on Sunday. SF Kevin Durant remains out for the Warriors.

It didn’t take long for the Warriors to adjust to playing without Durant (25.3 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 4.8 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.6 BPG), and the leading scorer on their winning streak has been SG Klay Thompson (22.2 PPG, 3.6 RPG). He is averaging 24.9 points per game on ridiculous 53.3% shooting in his last seven games. He made 7-of-11 shots from deep against the Grizzlies to score a game-high 31 points. PG Stephen Curry (24.8 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 6.5 APG, 1.8 SPG) hasn’t started jacking up a ton of shots like some thought he would; in fact, he’s shot fewer FGA in his last seven (16.9) than he has for the season (18.1). Instead, he has been doing a little bit of everything (including plenty of scoring). He had six steals and a season-high 12 assists against the Kings on Friday, and he had 21 points, 11 assists and four steals against Memphis. SF Andre Iguodala (7.2 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 3.4 APG, 1.0 SPG) was brilliant in that one, making 7-for-8 shots for 20 points to go with seven rebounds. He and SF Matt Barnes (5.8 PPG, 4.9 RPG in 13 games for GSW) have been splitting minutes at the three to make up for Durant’s absence. PF Draymond Green (10.3 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 7.1 APG, 2.1 SPG, 1.4 BPG) posted a season high for points on Friday with 23 against Sacramento, and added in eight assists for good measure. Except for scoring, though, his production in March has been down from his season totals in most statistical categories.

You may have heard a thing or two this season about Harden (29.4 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 11.3 APG, 1.5 SPG), who has put together an MVP-caliber year that one NBA coach referred to as “Steve Nash on steroids.” Nash’s former coach Mike D’Antoni has put Harden in charge of running the Houston offense, and Harden has rewarded him by leading the league in assists, being second in scoring and first among shooting guards in rebounding. He hasn’t slowed down any as of late, with a 38-point, 17-assist outing against New Orleans last Friday standing out as a particular highlight. He and his teammates are shooting an NBA-record 40.3 three-pointers per game, with he and SG Eric Gordon (16.5 PPG) throwing up more treys than anyone else. Gordon had an efficient day against OKC with 24 points on 13 shots, marking his seventh straight game in double digits for scoring. SF Trevor Ariza (11.7 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.8 SPG) has become the best version of his three-and-D self at the age of 31, although his 35.4% mark from deep lags behind the other shooters on the squad. Anderson (13.5 PPG, 4.7 RPG) is one of the game’s premier stretch fours, but he’s supposed to be out for two weeks, which could mean larger roles for SG Lou Williams (15.0 PPG in 15 games for HOU) and SF Sam Dekker (6.7 PPG, 3.7 RPG). PG Patrick Beverley (9.3 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 4.2 APG, 1.5 SPG) is his same scrappy self; he’s second among point guards in rebounding and ninth among PGs in steals. Believe it or not, there are some guys in the rotation who don’t shoot threes: interiors bruisers like C Néné (8.8 PPG, 4.2 RPG), PF Montrezl Harrell (9.1 PPG, 3.6 RPG) and C Clint Capela (12.4 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 1.2 BPG).
