The PGA TOUR heads to Pebble Beach for the always-exciting AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Thursday. Last week, Hideki Matsuyama defeated Webb Simpson to win the Waste Management Phoenix Open in a playoff. Matsuyama will now take a much-deserved week off, but this field is still loaded with talent. Some of the big names that will be out on the course on Thursday are Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Justin Rose, Brandt Snedeker, Jon Rahm and Phil Mickelson. Mickelson has won this event four times in this career and one more victory would tie him with Mark O’Meara for most ever wins in this tournament. Snedeker, meanwhile, owns the record for best score ever shot in this tournament. That was when he shot a 22-under to win it for a second time back in 2015. With that out of the way, let’s now take a look at who might win this event this weekend:

Jordan Spieth (8-to-1) - Jordan Spieth might have only tied for ninth at last week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open, but the way he played in the final three days was very encouraging. In the second round of the event, Spieth shot a 68. He then followed that up with back-to-back 67s in rounds three and four. Add that outing to a third place finish at both the SBS Tournament of Champions and the Sony Open in Hawaii and it’s clear that Spieth is playing some excellent golf right now. Look for him to notch his first victory of the year at Pebble Beach and don’t be afraid to put more than a unit on him at 8-to-1.

Phil Mickelson (16-to-1) - Mickelson has looked super sharp to open up the year, as he shot an 11-under at the CareerBuilder Challenge, a seven-under at the Farmers Insurance Open, and a 10-under at last week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open. Had Mickelson done better than the 70 he shot in round two then he would have had a legitimate chance to win the tournament last week. Expect him to come out firing on Thursday, and don’t be afraid to back him at 16-to-1. As always, he has been swinging his irons extremely well. He’s also burying a ton of birdie putts.

Martin Laird (50-to-1) - The fact that Laird is receiving 50-to-1 odds this weekend is rather insane. Laird has played very well to open up the season, finishing inside the top-10 at two of the past three tournaments. Last week, he was especially impressive. Laird shot a 13-under to finish tied for seventh at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and he’s a good guy to take a shot on this weekend. If he can get off to a good start on Thursday then it’s likely he’ll follow through with a good finish. He’s won on the TOUR before and knows how to get the job done.

Nick Watney (125-to-1) - Watney is another guy that is worth taking a chance on this weekend. He is receiving 125-to-1 odds, so even a half-unit would mean a big payday if he were to win. It’s not out of the question either, as Watney actually finished in second here back in 2015. He shot a 19-under in that tournament, and that score would have been good enough to win in many other years. If he can come out and shoot that score again then he’ll definitely have a chance.
