The Round of 12 kicks off with the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday. There were some concerns that this race would be cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew, but it’ll go on as scheduled. One guy that will certainly be happy about that is Jimmie Johnson. Johnson is one of four drivers to have won this event three times in this career (2004, 2005, 2009). He is the only active driver to accomplish that feat, but Jamie McMurray is capable of tying that mark due to his two victories (2002, 2010). The guy who won this thing most recently is, however, Joey Logano. Logano finished his 334 laps in 3:35:05 and became the third driver in five years to win in a Ford manufactured car. Chevrolet, however, has historically been the best make at this track, as the company has seen one of its cars win 20 times in this race. With that out of the way, let’s now take a look at some of the best picks to win this weekend:

Martin Truex Jr. (4-to-1) - It might be fair to say that no other driver this season has gotten as hot as Truex Jr. currently is. Truex Jr. is coming off of a victory at the Citizen Soldier 400, and that win was his third in the past five races. His two other finishes were a third at the Federated Auto Parts 400 and a seventh at the Bad Boy Off Road 300. He’s seemingly a lock to finish at the top of the leaderboard, so putting a few units on him is the best chance one has at winning this weekend.

Jimmie Johnson (6-to-1) - If you’re looking for another guy that is a near guarantee to be near the top of the leaderboard then that is Johnson. Johnson is getting some favorable 6-to-1 odds this weekend and that is pretty absurd for one of the all-time best drivers at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It also doesn’t hurt that Johnson is driving well coming into this race and happens to be in a desperate situation. He can’t afford a poor finish on Saturday, and that means he’ll be hungry to win on a track where he is very comfortable.

Joey Logano (12-to-1) - Logano may not have all of the historic success that Johnson and Truex Jr. have at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but he is still the defending champion coming into this race. Logano was impressive in winning last year and he’ll feel confident behind the wheel on Saturday. He also happens to be coming off of a sixth-place finish in the Citizen Soldier 400 and just might be one of the more talented drivers in the Sprint Cup Series. Putting a few units could really pay off on him at 12-to-1.

Jamie McMurray (75-to-1) - McMurray might have poor starting position in this race, but he should be able to overcome that. As mentioned earlier, McMurray has won twice on this track and he could really use a victory on Saturday as well. He is receiving some absurd odds at 75-to-1 and that means that even a half-unit could pay off big on Saturday. There may not be a more talented driver getting favorable odds like that again this year, so take advantage while you can.
