SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (2-1)
at NEW YORK JETS (1-2)

MetLife Stadium – East Rutherford, NJ
Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
Line: Seattle -2.5, Total: 40.0

The Jets will be hoping to get back to .500 with a home victory over the Seahawks on Sunday.

The Seahawks have not played their best football, but they are still 2-1 SU and have a great chance of improving to 3-1 on Sunday. This Seattle team is still dominant defensively, as it is allowing just 12.3 PPG through three contests. The Seahawks will now be hoping to take advantage of a Jets offense that turned the ball over eight times last week. New York should, however, have a heavy emphasis on ball security coming into this one. The team desperately needs a win and knows that it’s facing a very good defense. New York has gotten the best of this series in the past, but the teams have not met much recently. The Jets are 3-0 SU (2-1 ATS) when hosting the Seahawks since 1992, but the last time they actually hosted Seattle was in 2004. One trend worth pointing out heading into this game is the fact that New York is 26-13 ATS versus teams that are allowing 285 or fewer yards per game since 1992. Fortunately for Seattle, QB Russell Wilson (Knee) is probable for this game after getting banged up against the 49ers last week. The Seahawks are, however, without RB Thomas Rawls (Leg) indefinitely.

The Seahawks are 2-1, but they are not getting the type of play from their offense that they were expecting. QB Russell Wilson (755 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT) has been playing through injuries since Week 1, but that can no longer be an excuse for him. The Seahawks need him to be better and this is a plus matchup for him. The Jets have an awful secondary, so Wilson should be able to make some big plays in this one. Look for both TE Jimmy Graham (10 rec, 153 yards, 1 TD) and WR Doug Baldwin (20 rec, 276 yards, 2 TD) to have a ton of opportunities. Graham had a big game last week against San Francisco, hauling in six catches for 100 yards and a touchdown. He seemed to have his explosiveness back and should be able to win some jump balls in this game. Baldwin, meanwhile, is a great route-runner and should be able to shake free a few times on Sunday. Defensively, CB Richard Sherman (8 tackles) will be hoping to get his first interception of the season in this one. Fitzpatrick did throw six interceptions last week, so it’s very likely that Sherman finds a way to pick him off on Sunday.

The Jets got embarrassed by the Chiefs last week and they’ll now be a very desperate team when they take the field on Sunday. New York can’t afford to start this season 1-3, so the team should come out and play a good game in this one. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (751 yards, 3 TD, 7 INT) is going to need to be on his game in this one. Fitzpatrick had one of the best starts of his career against the Bills two weeks ago, throwing for 374 yards with a touchdown and no picks. He followed that up with the worst start of his career, throwing for zero touchdowns and a miserable six interceptions against Kansas City. New York needs Fitzpatrick to make plays in this game and he can’t afford to cough up the ball either. Look for him to make wiser decisions in this game. Defensively, CB Darrelle Revis (15 tackles) is banged up, but he will need to play well in this game. The Jets have not played well in pass defense this season, but they’ll need to find a way against Russell Wilson. It’d be big if Revis can come up with a pick, as it would really energize a Jets team that is very down at the moment.
