NEW YORK JETS (1-1)
at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (1-1)

Arrowhead Stadium – Kansas City, MO
Kickoff: Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET
Line: Kansas City -3.0, Total: 42.5

The Jets will be looking to win a second straight road game when they face the Chiefs in Kansas City on Sunday.

The Jets have not won a game in Kansas City since 1998, when Vinny Testaverde was under center for the team. Regardless, New York will be feeling very confident when the team takes the field on Sunday. The Jets are coming off of an impressive 37-31 victory as one-point underdogs against the Bills in Week 3, and the team put up 493 yards of total offense in that one. The Chiefs, meanwhile, lost 19-12 as one-point road favorites against the Texans in Week 2. Kansas City did not have it going offensively in that one, as the team gained only 291 yards of total offense in that game. The Chiefs will need to move the ball more effectively on Sunday and should be able to do that against a lousy Jets secondary. One trend that is worth noting when looking at this game is the fact that Andy Reid is 6-0 ATS after scoring 14 points or less as the coach of Kansas City. He’s also facing a Jets team that is 0-6 ATS off of two or more consecutive OVERS over the past three seasons. The status of WR Brandon Marshall (Knee) is worth keeping an eye on coming into this game, as the star wideout is questionable for New York. RB Jamaal Charles (Knee) is listed as questionable for Kansas City, but it’s likely that he’ll end up sitting this game out.

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (563 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT) was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Bills last Thursday night. In that game, Fitzpatrick was 24-for-34 with 374 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions. He was spreading the ball around masterfully and will need to do the same in this one. WR Brandon Marshall (9 rec, 133 yards, 0 TD) being out would definitely hurt the Jets in this game, but the team does have guys ready to step their games up. WR Eric Decker (8 rec, 163 yards, 2 TD) is certainly capable of having a big game, as evidenced by his six-catch, 126-yard performance against the Bills. Decker caught a touchdown in that game and will remain one of Fitzpatrick’s favorite red zone targets. WR Quincy Enunwa (13 rec, 146 yards, 1 TD) could also be in for a big game in this one. Enunwa has earned the trust of Fitzpatrick this season and would likely put up some big numbers if Marshall is out on Sunday. On the ground, RB Matt Forte (196 yards, 3 TD) is going to need to be effective for New York. Forte is off to a hot start this season, as he had 100 yards and three touchdowns against the Bills after going for 155 total yards against the Bengals in Week 1. He is a perfect fit in offensive coordinator Chan Gailey’s system and his versatility will make things hard on the Chiefs in this one. Defensively, CB Darrelle Revis (10 tackles, 0 INT) can’t afford to get torched on Sunday. He struggled mightily against A.J. Green in Week 1 and was burned for a touchdown on the first offensive play of the game for Buffalo last week. The Jets need him to start anchoring the secondary the way he always has.

The Chiefs are coming off of an ugly loss to the Texans last week and they’ll now look to recover with a win over the Jets on Sunday. RB Spencer Ware (127 yards, 1 TD rushing/9 rec, 177 yards receiving) has played well filling in for RB Jamaal Charles (torn ACL/week-to-week) and it’d be big for Kansas City if he can find a way to be productive against the Jets in this one. New York does, however, have one of the best defensive lines in the league and that means that QB Alex Smith (549 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT) will need to defeat the Jets through the air. Smith didn’t throw for a single touchdown against the Texans last week and that can’t be the case once again in Week 3. He must take some shots down the field and find a way to put up points in this one. Defensively, Kansas City will need to be ready to defend in all aspects of the game. New York has an explosive offense and is capable of winning on the ground or through the air.
