CHICAGO WHITE SOX (50-50)

at CHICAGO CUBS (59-40)

First pitch: Wednesday, 8:05 p.m. ET
Line: Chicago White Sox +200, Chicago Cubs -220, Total: N/A

The White Sox will be going for their fifth straight win when they face the Cubs on Wednesday. The White Sox will be hoping to get over the .500 mark on Wednesday, but that will not be easy with Ranaudo on the mound. In two appearances for Chicago this season, Ranaudo has allowed seven earned runs in 3.2 innings of work. His main issue has been walks, as he has walked eight batters in those two appearances. If he cannot get himself together and throw strikes in this game then the White Sox are not going to have a chance in this one. Offensively, the guys to watch out for on this White Sox team are OF Melky Cabrera (.302, 9 HR, 44 RBI) and 1B Justin Morneau (.233, 1 HR, 4 RBI). The two of them have dominated Hammel in their careers, going a combined 12-for-30 with two homers and eight RBI against the righty. Morneau has looked a bit rusty since joining the White Sox, but perhaps he’ll break out and perform at a high level in this one. He is certainly familiar with the way Hammel pitches and that should be huge on Wednesday.

The Cubs will be hoping to get back into the win column on Wednesday and they’ll certainly have the edge on the mound in this one. Jason Hammel is going to be the guy taking the ball for the Cubs and he has allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his past three starts. While he doesn’t normally work deep into games, the Cubs would take a short and productive outing from him. Offensively, this Cubs lineup is bad news for the White Sox starter on Wednesday. He has a ton of issues with throwing strikes and that can lead to walks and homers in this game. That means that 1B Anthony Rizzo (.287, 24 HR, 76 RBI) and 3B Kris Bryant (.283, 25 HR, 65 RBI) will need to be on their toes in this one. Both of them have tremendous pop and they will need to be ready on Wednesday. There’s a very good chance that Ranaudo serves them up a few pitches right over the plate and they’ll need to put them away if they get the opportunity.
