NEW YORK JETS (6-5)
at NEW YORK GIANTS (5-6)

Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
Line: New York Jets -2.5, Total: 46.5

The Battle for MetLife Stadium goes down on Sunday when the Giants “host” the Jets with both teams looking to remain in their respective conference playoff hunts.

The Jets (6-5 SU, 5-5-1 ATS) rolled over the Dolphins last Sunday, 38-20, for their first SU victory in three weeks, and their first ATS victory in six games. After allowing more than 120 rushing yards in each of their back-to-back losses to the Bills and Texans, the Jets clamped down on Miami, allowing just 12 yards on the ground, the lowest mark in the 56-year history of the franchise. The Jets also ran for 137 yards, their most since that last ATS win on Oct. 18. The Giants (5-6 SU, 6-4-1 ATS) fell back to second place in the NFC East with a 20-14 loss to new division leader Washington, which was their first loss ATS in six weeks. The Giants rushing attack that had put up at least 80 yards in every game this season mustered just 33, the team’s lowest single-game total since Week 15 of 2013 season. Betting trends and head-to-head history favor the Giants, while quarterback histories are nearly identical. The Giants have won eight of 12 all-time matchups against the Jets, including the past five matchups SU and four of those five ATS dating back to 1996, including two wins SU as the underdog, as they are for Sunday. Tom Coughlin is 105-88 ATS as coach of the Giants and 9-2 ATS versus the AFC East. He’s also fared well against good offensive teams, going 48-29 ATS as Giants coach versus teams averaging more than 350 total YPG; the Jets enter Sunday averaging 357btotal YPG this season. Jets’ DBs Darrelle Revis (concussion) and Dion Bailey (ankle) are both questionable for the game. For the Giants, TE Larry Donnell (neck), LB Mark Herzlich (quad), OL Weston Richburg (ankle), OL Justin Pugh (concussion), and DE George Selvie (undisclosed) are all questionable.

Which New York team will prevail on Sunday? For the answer, connect to NFL Best Bets for all the StatFox Experts picks throughout the 2015 regular season and playoffs. This season, the four experts have a profitable 54% ATS collective record (84-71-7) in NFL Best Bets. StatFox Gary is leading the way at 60% ATS (21-14-2) this season, while StatFox Brian is 54% ATS (22-19-3). In terms of NFL Totals, Gary continues his strong season with a perfect 3-0 mark in Week 11 to improve to 59% (16-11) for the year.

Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is having a pretty strong season with 225 passing YPG, 20 TD and 11 INT, but he is 0-2 in his career versus the Giants, throwing for five picks and only three touchdowns. Thanks in part to their defensive dominance against Miami, the Jets are now tops in the league in rushing defense (84 YPG) and third in total defense (324 total YPG). As dominant as they’ve been, those numbers could improve further still Sunday as the Giants come in averaging just 89.4 rushing YPG (28th in NFL). More rushing yards is key, because every Jets ATS victory this season has come in games where they outgained their opponent on the ground.

Giants QB Eli Manning orchestrates a passing offense where he has thrown for 275 YPG, 23 TD and 9 INT. But the Giants come in with the worst pass defense in the league due to a multitude of inefficiencies. They’ve allowed 25 YPG more than any other team, they’ve allowed the 2nd most first downs by passing play in the NFL, and they’re tied for last in the league with just 12 QB sacks. One glimmer of hope for Big Blue’s defensive backfield is that they’re tied for second in the league with 14 interceptions, contributing to a +9 TO margin, good for 3rd in the league.
