BROOKLYN NETS (1-7)

at SACRAMENTO KINGS (2-7)

Tip-off: Friday, 10:00 p.m. ET
Line: Sacramento -6.5, Total: 205.5

Two of the worst teams in the NBA try to gain some confidence on Friday night when the 2-7 Kings host the 1-7 Nets.

Brooklyn (2-6 ATS) actually does have some momentum after winning its first game of the season on Wednesday night with a 106-98 shocker at 11.5-point favorite Houston. Sacramento (4-5 ATS) is also coming off a solid victory (101-92 versus Detroit), which snapped a six-game losing skid. The Nets have won each of the past three meetings between these teams, including a 103-100 road victory in the most recent matchup on Jan. 21, 2015. But the Kings are still 13-5 SU (9-8-1 ATS) when hosting in this series since 1996. Bettors can find reasons to wager on either team on Friday, as Brooklyn is 11-1 ATS on the road in the past three seasons when failing to cover 6 or 7 of its previous eight games, and Sacramento head coach George Karl is 103-75 ATS since 1996 at home versus teams who average 7 or less SPG. The Nets continue to be without forwards Chris McCullough (knee) and Willie Reed (thumb), while the Kings do not expect PG Darren Collison (hamstring) to play on Friday, but are counting on reserve SG Seth Curry (ankle) to suit up in this contest.

Brooklyn employs a methodical offense that averages a mere 92.4 PPG on 43.3% FG. These numbers are even worse on the road (89.0 PPG on 43.2% FG). The club really struggles in long-range shooting (26.8% threes), but knocked down a season-high 47% threes (8-of-17) in Wednesday's win. SG Bojan Bogdanovic (12.5 PPG, 49% FG) was the star in that upset win in Houston with 22 points (10-of-20 FG) and nine rebounds, which was quite a jump from the 9.0 PPG he scored in the previous two games. SF Joe Johnson (11.0 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.6 APG) also had a huge game against the Rockets with 16 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds, but he's still shooting horribly this season with a 33% FG clip. The team's best player this season has been C Brook Lopez, who is averaging 19.6 PPG, 8.3 RPG and 2.1 BPG. He recorded a double-double of 14 points and 12 boards on Wednesday, and added five blocks on the defensive end. Speaking of defense, Brooklyn has not been as strong as it needs to be, allowing 102.2 PPG on 46.5% FG and 36.9% threes. If the Nets don't defend the three-point arc, they could be in for a long night against an excellent shooting opponent.

Sacramento loves to push the tempo, and is averaging a lofty 102.7 PPG on 44.7% FG for the season. The team is coming off a season-high 56% threes, which brings its season rate up to a hefty 37.9% threes. C DeMarcus Cousins (24.0 PPG, 10.8 RPG) has been a big part of that by knocking down 8-of-19 threes (42%), which is quite a surprise considering he entered the season with a 16% career mark from downtown. He also had a huge night against the Pistons with a season-high 33 points (11-of-21 FG, 4-of-5 threes) and nine rebounds. SF Rudy Gay (17.2 PPG, 6.3 RPG) was also on fire, pouring in 25 points on 10-of-14 FG, while adding six boards and three assists. PG Rajon Rondo (12.0 PPG, 8.6 APG, 6.8 RPG) is coming off a triple-double of 14 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds, which is his second triple-double in a three-game stretch. With backup PG Darren Collison (15.8 PPG, 5.2 APG) hurt, Rondo has logged the full 48 minutes in consecutive games. On defense, Sacramento allows a hefty 108.6 PPG on 48.0% FG, but the club does a great job of guarding the three-point arc, holding opponents to a 31.3% clip.
