OKLAHOMA SOONERS (12-5)

at KANSAS JAYHAWKS (14-3)

Allen Fieldhouse - Lawrence, KS
Tip-off: Monday, 9:00 p.m. ET
Line: Kansas -5.5, Total: 139

No. 11 Kansas looks to bounce back from a tough loss in Ames when it hosts No. 19 Oklahoma on Monday night in Lawrence.

The Sooners (9-6 ATS) picked up a huge 82-65 victory against Oklahoma State in Norman over the weekend to stop a two-game slide, as they outshot the Cowboys 56% FG to 37% FG. The Jayhawks (10-6 ATS) had a perfect 5-0 record (SU and ATS) since Christmas before falling 86-81 at Iowa State when they were outshot 51% FG to 43% FG. Although Kansas swept last season's series, both games were single-digit margins, with Oklahoma covering in Lawrence when it lost 83-75 as a 10-point underdog. The Sooners defense really struggled in the two meetings, allowing the Jayhawks to score 86.5 PPG on 50% FG and 48% threes (15-of-32). But even though Kansas has won 13 straight home meetings in this series, and is 19-5 SU overall in this series since 1997, Oklahoma is an even 12-12 ATS in these 24 overall meetings. In the Big 12, a lot of teams have to play a Saturday/Monday schedule, and the Sooners have been very good in that format in the past two seasons, going 6-0 ATS when playing their second game in a three-day span, and they are also 12-0 ATS after two straight games with nine or less offensive rebounds in this same timeframe. But the Jayhawks have one of the best home-court advantages in all of college basketball, and are 15-4 ATS in Big 12 home games in the past three seasons with a scoring margin of 18.4 PPG. There are no significant injuries for either school in this game.

StatFox Brian is 69% ATS (11-5) in Best Bets since Dec. 28 to put him at 56% ATS (28-22) this season, while StatFox Zach is on a 58% ATS (7-5) Best Bets run since Jan. 1 and has a 54% ATS mark (27-23) this season. Lon Kruger has done an excellent job since becoming the head coach of the Sooners, and this may be his best team to date. Oklahoma has been great on the glass, ranking 18th in the nation in rebounding (39.9 RPG) with a +2.1 RPG margin. The Sooners also rank 67th in scoring (73.0 PPG), 125th in shooting (44.6% FG) and 189th in assists (12.5 APG). Defensively, this team holds opponents to 61.3 PPG (59th in nation) on 36.9% FG (11th in NCAA) and 28.4% threes (17th in nation). The Sooners have one of the best scorers in college basketball in SG Buddy Hield (17.6 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 41% threes), and he is capable of scoring 20 points on any given night, averaging a whopping 26.3 PPG (63% FG, 12-of-20 threes) in his past three games. In Saturday's win, Hield was a perfect 10-of-10 FG, including 4-of-4 threes to get his 27 points. Hield, who averaged 17.0 PPG versus Kansas last season, is able to score both at the basket and from the perimeter, and he is not afraid to shoot the ball early in the shot clock. PF Ryan Spangler (9.5 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 1.1 BPG) is the leading returning rebounder in the Big 12, and he is the type of player that every team needs. He does a great job of setting screens, helping guys like Hield get easier shots. SG Isaiah Cousins (12.5 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 44% threes) and PG Jordan Woodard (7.9 PPG, 4.5 APG, 3.9 RPG) are an experienced backcourt, and will have to remain composed on Monday night, as Allen Fieldhouse can get rocking in a hurry.

Despite the loss to Iowa State, the Jayhawks are still going to be very difficult for teams to beat in the Big 12. Kansas enters this game ranked 25th in the nation in rebounding (39.2 RPG) with a +7.3 RPG margin, and also rank 94th in the NCAA in scoring (71.5 PPG), 97th in assists (14.1 APG) and 195th in shooting (43.2% FG). Defensively, the Jayhawks limit opponents to 64.1 PPG (137th in nation) on 40.9% FG and 33.7% threes.Even though the team wasn’t able to get the win Saturday at Iowa State, there are many positives for head coach Bill Self to take out of that game. Kansas allowed only five offensive rebounds, something that will play a huge role in this game as the Sooners average 10.4 offensive rebounds per game. Another positive was the play of PF Perry Ellis (12.6 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 39 % threes), who had his best game of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds. He is putting up solid numbers on the season, but for the Jayhawks to win the Big 12, he has to become a consistent 16-point, 8-rebound performer. Ellis averaged 16.5 PPG in the two meetings with Oklahoma last season. PG Frank Mason III (12.9 PPG, 4.2 APG and 4.1 RPG) has become one of the most consistent players in the Big 12, as he does a great job of getting to the basket, where he can finish or find the open teammate. SG Kelly Oubre Jr. (8.0 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 43% threes) is continuing to improve, and he showed a lot of toughness in a hostile environment on Saturday. For Kansas, a convincing victory on Monday will show that it is still the class of the Big 12.
