BROOKLYN NETS (4-3)

at GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS (5-2)

Tip-off: Thursday, 10:35 p.m. ET
Line: Golden State -9, Total: 204.5

The “Splash Brothers” and the rest of the Warriors look to get back to their winning ways when they host the Nets on Thursday night.

Golden State had won each of its first five games (SU and ATS), but has fallen into a mini losing skid with double-digit defeats in each of the past two contests against Phoenix (107-95) and San Antonio (113-100). The Warriors have really had trouble with ball security as they cough up the rock a league-worst 21.9 times per game. Despite shooting an impressive 54.3% FG on Tuesday, Golden State still lost to 7.5-point underdog San Antonio due to its 19 turnovers, while forcing just eight Spurs turnovers. Brooklyn has been able to pull out four SU wins in its first seven contests of the year due to a great offensive run where the team has recorded more than 100 points in all but one game. The Nets (3-4 ATS) failed to cover the 5.5 points that they were being given on the road against the Suns on Wednesday night as they lost 112-104 after leading by six heading into the final quarter. Each team shot better than 47% from the floor in the game as they combined for 39 turnovers and 17 three-pointers. These teams have matched up well over the past few seasons as they have split the past eight meetings 4-4 (SU and ATS). Last season, the home team won each time, including a low-scoring affair most recently in which the Warriors prevailed 93-86 as 5-point favorites while holding the Nets to 41% FG and a putrid 2-for-21 threes. As far as trends go, Brooklyn is 18-7 ATS (72%) in road games when playing only its second game in five days over the past five seasons, while Golden State has gone 8-0 ATS when coming off a double-digit home loss in the same timeframe. The one injury that may affect this game comes from the Warriors, as PF David Lee (hamstring) continues to miss time.

Brooklyn’s offense has been among the best in the league this season as the club is putting up 104.6 PPG (6th in NBA) on 48.6% FG (2nd in league). Unfortunately, the Nets have not been able to lock down on defense, allowing a mediocre 100.1 PPG (18th in NBA) on 45.5% FG (19th in league). SG Joe Johnson (20.0 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 3.7 APG) is crashing the boards hard this season as he is on pace to set a career-high mark in rebounding. The veteran has performed well over his 30 career games (27 starts) against the Warriors, scoring 19.5 PPG (44% FG) to go along with 4.4 APG and 3.9 RPG. PG Deron Williams (19.5 PPG, 7.0 APG, 1.0 SPG) has played a ton of minutes this season (37.6 MPG, 5th in NBA) while shooting a solid 49% from the floor. He’s faced Golden State 26 times (25 starts) in his career while averaging a double-double of 17.3 PPG (44% FG) and 10.5 APG. C Brook Lopez (15.2 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.0 BPG, 1.4 SPG) has been able to contribute nicely offensively, but has been pulled late in games as his defense has suffered. The big man has done well versus the Warriors in seven career games (6 starts), dropping i19.1 PPG (58% FG) to go along with 7.1 RPG and 1.7 BPG.

The Warriors have put up an impressive 104.4 PPG this season (7th in NBA) on a league-leading 49.7% shooting from the floor and have dropped in more than 120 points twice this season. Their defense is actually what has been more impressive though limiting opponents to 97.4 PPG (11th in NBA) on just 41.8% shooting (3rd in league). PG Stephen Curry (26.0 PPG, 6.9 APG, 6.1 RPG, 3.0 SPG) is coming off his worst game of the season (16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) as he went 0-for-7 from long range and is now shooting just 36% from behind the arc on the season. He has started eight games against the Nets in his career, averaging 22.3 PPG (48% FG), 5.5 APG and 2.0 SPG and is 20-for-47 (43%) from three-point range. SG Klay Thompson (24.7 PPG, 47% threes) hit 5-of-6 long-range tries in the loss to the Spurs and has scored 29+ points three times this season. The youngster has not performed well against Brooklyn in his six career tries though, recording a meager 13.7 PPG on 43% FG, but has done well from behind the arc with 47% threes. SF Draymond Green (13.6 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 1.3 BPG, 1.0 SPG) has scored more than 20 points twice in his past four games and averaged 11.0 PPG (32% FG) and 7.5 RPG in the two games (1 start) against them last season.
