DALLAS MAVERICKS (47-31)

at UTAH JAZZ (24-53)

Tip-off: Tuesday, 9:05 p.m. ET
Line: Dallas -7.5, Total: 199.5

The Mavericks ride a three-game winning streak into Salt Lake City on Tuesday night when they take on the Jazz.

Dallas wraps up its four-game road trip in Utah on Tuesday, and they have won every game so far (2-1 ATS). Coming off of a 93-91 win over the Kings, Dirk Nowitzki (21.6 PPG, 6.2 RPG) will look to stay hot after being named last week’s Western Conference Player of the Week. The Jazz, on the other hand, were just blown out 130-102 at Golden State on Sunday. In three meetings between Dallas and Utah this season, the Mavericks are 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS. Over the past three seasons, the Jazz are 3-2 SU when hosting Dallas. The Mavs, however, are 3-2 ATS in those games. Since 1996, Dallas is 18-3 ATS in road games after two straight games where it attempted 15 or fewer free throws. Over the past three seasons however, the Jazz are 10-1 ATS in home games after a road game where both teams score 100 or more points.

StatFox Zach is a stellar 65% ATS (13-7) since March 9, while StatFox Gary has remained hot with a 57% ATS mark (20-15) since Feb. 13, while StatFox Dave has a strong 55% ATS (49-40-2) Best Bets record since Dec. 1.

Every game for the rest of the season is going to be played at a playoff intensity from the Mavericks players. Dallas will need to finish the season strong in order to make the postseason, and that is something that PF Dirk Nowitzki clearly realizes. Nowitzki has taken his play to another level recently, averaging 24.0 PPG (55% FG, 52% threes), 7.8 RPG and 3.8 APG over the past five contests. SG Monta Ellis (18.8 PPG, 5.8 APG) is coming off of a 23-point performance against the Kings on Sunday. Ellis is averaging 21.3 PPG and 7.0 APG in three games versus Utah this season. His speed and ability to drive to the hoop is a nightmare for the Jazz guards. PG Jose Calderon (11.6 PPG, 4.7 APG) has really struggled in this season series, averaging just 9.0 PPG (41% FG) and 5.3 APG. If his offense isn’t there on Tuesday, then his defense better be, because Trey Burke is a tough cover at the point guard position. SG Vince Carter (12.1 PPG) had 17 points against the Kings in just 25 minutes of play, and his scoring off the bench could be a huge X-factor in this game.

The Jazz have had an extremely difficult season, but they have an opportunity to play the role of spoiler on Tuesday night. SG Alec Burks (14.0 PPG) has been playing very well recently for the Jazz. Over the past four games, Burks is averaging 18.5 PPG in 29.0 MPG. He’s struggled this season against the Mavericks though, averaging just 8.0 PPG in 26.3 MPG over the three games. The matchup with Monta Ellis has been tough for him, but he’ll have to use his size to his advantage in this final meeting with Dallas. SF Gordon Hayward (16.1 PPG, 5.2 APG, 5.0 RPG) is averaging 17.2 PPG and 5.2 APG over the past five games. If Hayward doesn’t play well against the Mavericks, the Jazz will have a very slim chance to win. He sets the tone for their offense and will need to be sharp in this game. PG Trey Burke (12.6 PPG, 5.5 APG) had one of his best games as a pro in the blowout loss to the Warriors with 24 points (10-of-21 FG) and 15 assists in 40 minutes of play.
