PHOENIX SUNS (42-29)

at WASHINGTON WIZARDS (36-34)

Tip-off: Wednesday, 7:05 p.m. ET
Line: Washington -1, Total: 210

Two of the better stories in the 2013-14 season, the Suns and the Wizards, meet in Washington as Phoenix attempts to extend their four-game winning streak.

The Suns have overcome all odds this season with injuries and supposed shallow depth while coming into this contest riding a four-game SU winning streak (3-1 ATS) and going 6-1 SU (5-2 ATS) over their last seven games. They visited the Hawks on Monday night and left with a 102-95 victory as 2.5-point underdogs. Phoenix shot 51.4% from the field in the game; the fourth time in their last six games that they have shot over 50%. Washington has been streaky this season and were only 1-3 SU and ATS in their recent four-game West coast road trip. Their last game of the trip had them in Denver as they lost to the Nuggets by a score of 105-102. They actually out-rebounded their opponent by 12 and were more efficient from the field, but could not hold onto the ball; committing a season-high 24 turnovers. The Suns have played just better than .500 basketball on the road this year, putting together an 18-16 SU record, but have been an incredible 25-9 ATS in those games. On the other hand, the Wizards are a mere 17-16 SU (12-19 ATS) when playing in their home arena. This game will mark the second and final meeting between these two clubs this year as the Wizards traveled to Phoenix earlier in the season and came away with a 101-95 victory as four-point underdogs. In the past Washington has had the edge in this series, going 3-1 SU and ATS over the last three seasons while being 8-7 SU (7-8 ATS) since 1996. The Suns have been good to bettors all year long; going 46-24 ATS (65.7%) in all games this season while the Wizards are 14-4 ATS after allowing 100 points or more in two straight games over the past two seasons. There are no new injuries for this game as SG Leandro Barbosa (Hand) and C Emeka Okafor (Back) are out indefinitely for Phoenix while PF Nene (Knee) is out for Washington.

Phoenix currently ranks sixth in the league with 105.5 PPG this season and has continued to perform well with 106.2 PPG (50% FG) over their last five games. They have not done too well on the defensive side of things, though, ranking ninth in the NBA while allowing 102.8 PPG this year. SG Goran Dragic (20.3 PPG, 6.0 APG, 1.4 SPG) has been one of the biggest surprises this season and has had at least 18 points and six assists in every game throughout the four-game streak. He was great the first time he faced the Wizards this year, scoring 19 points while dishing out 11 assists, but has only 11.3 PPG (45% FG) with 6.0 APG over 10 career games (3 starts) against them. SG Eric Bledsoe (17.4 PPG, 5.7 APG, 4.6 RPG, 1.5 SPG) has averaged 21.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG and 4.7 APG over his last three contests and looks to be back to 100% after missing much of the season with a knee injury. In his five career games (1 start) against Washington, he has scored just 10.6 PPG (49% FG) while dishing out 3.8 APG and grabbing 3.4 RPG. PF Markieff Morris (13.8 PPG, 5.9 RPG) has been scoring better over his last five games, averaging 17.6 PPG (64% FG), including a big performance against the Timberwolves on Sunday when he finished with 25 points (10-of-13 FG). He scored 13 points against the Wizards earlier in the year while adding just two rebounds.

The Wizards rank 15th in the league in offense (101.0 PPG) but are third in the Eastern conference behind only the Heat and Hawks. They have excelled recently as well, putting up 106.8 PPG (46%FG) over their last five games. Although, in those same five games they have allowed opponents to score 107.8 PPG (47% FG); a much worse number than the 100.5 PPG they are giving up on the year. PG John Wall (19.8 PPG, 8.8 APG, 4.1 RPG, 1.9 APG) has put together an incredible last five games, scoring 22.8 PPG (51% FG) while dishing out 9.2 APG and grabbing 2.2 SPG. He has averaged a double-double (14.5 PPG, 10.5 APG) in his six career games against the Suns and had 18 points, 12 assists and two steals against them in the contest this year. SG Bradley Beal (17.2 PPG, 42% 3PM) is excelling in his second season in the NBA and is coming off a great all-around game (21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals) in the loss to the Nuggets on Sunday. He’s played in only three career games (1 start) against Phoenix, dropping 12.0 PPG (52% FG, 50% 3PT) and grabbing 5.7 RPG. C Marcin Gortat (12.8 PPG, 9.4 RPG, 1.5 BPG) has a double-double in each of his last three games played, averaging 16.0 PPG with 12.3 RPG in that time. He netted 14 points with only five rebounds in his first game against his former team when he faced off against the Suns earlier this season.
