INDIANA PACERS (50-17)

at NEW YORK KNICKS (27-40)

Tip-off: Wednesday, 8:05 p.m. ET
Line: Indiana -2, Total: 193.5

Two red-hot teams square off Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden when the Pacers visit the Knicks.

Indiana lost four straight games from March 4-9, but has turned things around with four wins in a row, taking down the 76ers on Monday by a 99-90 score. The Pacers' offense has just 98.8 PPG this season (21st in NBA), but has really clicked over the course of their win streak with 101.5 PPG. Their 45.5 RPG (3rd in league) should be a huge advantage on Wednesday, as the Knicks average just 40.9 RPG (26th in NBA). However, New York has been on a tear offensively, as it has averaged 114.5 PPG on 51.0% FG (43.1% threes) over the course of a six-game winning streak (5-1 ATS). The Knicks are also outrebounding opponents during the win surge, but they will be hard-pressed to hang with Indiana on the glass. These teams have met twice this season with the Pacers winning-and-covering in both matchups. Although that gives the club a 9-6 SU edge (8-7 ATS) in the past three seasons of this series, New York holds a 5-2 advantage (SU and ATS) when hosting Indiana during this span. The Pacers are 65-51 ATS (56%) as a favorite over the past two seasons, and they’re up against a Knicks team that is a paltry 1-8 ATS as a home underdog of six points or less this season. However, in the past three seasons, New York is also 14-3 ATS in home games after covering four of its previous five contests.

The five StatFox experts have been surging in NBA Best Bets recently with a 54% ATS record (69-60-1) since Feb. 10. StatFox Dave has a strong 57% ATS (43-33-1) Best Bets record since Dec. 1 and is 53% ATS (53-47-1) on Best Bets for the season. StatFox Brian remains red-hot, going 63% ATS (24-14-1) since Jan. 25 and 58% ATS (39-28-1) in Best Bets since Dec. 12. StatFox Gary is also heating up with a 62% ATS mark (13-8) since Feb. 13, while StatFox Zach is on a 5-1 ATS run since March 9.

The Pacers have won four straight games and SF Paul George (22.3 PPG. 6.5 RPG, 3.5 APG, 1.8 SPG) has been on a tear, averaging 26.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG and 5.0 APG in the past three games. The All-Star will likely be matched up with Carmelo Anthony throughout the course of this game, so what he does defensively will be just as important as his input offensively. SG Lance Stephenson (14.1 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 4.9 APG) is coming off a 25-point performance in the win over Philadelphia on Monday. He will be matched up with J.R. Smith, so he too will need to be ready to show up defensively for Indiana. C Roy Hibbert (11.2 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 2.4 BPG) is averaging just 8.8 PPG, 5.4 RPG and 2.0 BPG over the past five contests. He will likely play big minutes against the Knicks because backup C Andrew Bynum (8.7 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 1.1 BPG) just got his right knee drained and will be out for this game and maybe longer. PF David West (14.1 PPG, 6.7 RPG) could be an X-factor in this contest as he will be going up against Amar'e Stoudemire at the power forward position. West should be able to get it going offensively with Stoudemire's inability to stay focused on defense.

The Knicks are on a roll recently, but it could be too little too late in terms of sneaking into the Eastern Conference playoffs. SF Carmelo Anthony (28.0 PPG, 8.3 RPG) has played excellent over the course of the Knicks recent surge, averaging 27.8 PPG (46% FG), 6.8 RPG and 4.3 APG over the six victories. In two games against the Pacers this season, Anthony is averaging 29.0 PPG and 12.5 RPG. SG J.R. Smith (13.3 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 3.1 APG) has also played outstanding for the Knicks, averaging 16.3 PPG (51% FG, 46% threes), 4.2 RPG and 3.7 APG over the win streak. Smith will need to keep up the efficient offensive production and hold his own in a matchup with Lance Stephenson. PF Amar’e Stoudemire (10.9 PPG, 4.6 RPG) has had somewhat of a resurgence since returning to the starting lineup for New York. He is averaging 16.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG and 1.5 BPG over the past five contests and his play is taking a lot of the attention off Anthony. SG Tim Hardaway Jr. (10.2 PPG) has scored 20+ points in his past three games (23.3 PPG on 67% FG, 56% threes) and if he can keep up his hot shooting, then the Knicks should be in this game until the final buzzer.
