SAN ANTONIO SPURS (50-16)

at LOS ANGELES LAKERS (22-44)

Tip-off: Wednesday, 10:35 p.m. ET
Line: San Antonio -13.5, Total: 222

The Lakers hope a four-day rest will help them rebound from an embarrassing 34-point road loss to the Spurs when the two teams meet in L.A. on Wednesday night.

San Antonio continues to be one of the premier franchises in the NBA as it leads the Western Conference thanks to a current 10-game SU winning streak (7-3 ATS). The Spurs hosted the Jazz on Sunday night and won 122-104 as large 15-point favorites, shooting an unprecedented 62.8% from the field in the game, their highest percentage of the 2013-14 season. They have shot better than 50% FG in four of their past six contests. The Lakers have had a season riddled with constant change to their rotation and a slew of injuries to their star players. They traveled to San Antonio on Friday, losing by 34 points (119-85) as 17.5-point underdogs. L.A. had its second-worst shooting performance of the season in the game, hitting just 31-of-91 shots (34.1% FG). The Spurs are nearly unbeatable wherever they are, as shown by their 24-8 SU record (19-13 ATS) when playing in road games. They may also have an easy task ahead of them at another road win, as the Lakers are just 11-20 SU (15-15 ATS) at Staples Center this season. This will be the third meeting between these teams on the season and San Antonio has won both games SU while splitting ATS. In addition to the blowout five days ago, the Spurs won 91-85 in the first meeting in L.A. on Nov. 1, but failed to cover the 7.5-point spread. Over the past three seasons this series has been dominated by San Antonio, which is 10-2 SU (8-4 ATS) in all games, including 5-1 SU (4-2 ATS) as the road team. Some trends to take a look at in this game include the Spurs going 33-12 ATS (73%) after scoring 105+ points in two straight games over the past three seasons, while the Lakers are an impressive 11-3 ATS (79%) after a blowout loss of 15+ points this season. Injuries have not been an issue for San Antonio on the season, but SG Danny Green (wrist) is questionable to play on Wednesday. On the other hand, Los Angeles has seen players go down left-and-right, as SG Kobe Bryant (knee) and PG Steve Nash (leg) are out for the season, while PG Jordan Farmar (groin) is out indefinitely, C Jordan Hill (knee) is questionable and SG Nick Young (knee) is expected to miss the game.

San Antonio brings it in all facets of the game and its offense is scoring 105.1 PPG (7th in NBA) while the defense is allowing the sixth-fewest points in the league (97.8 PPG). The Spurs also sit behind only Miami in terms of shooting accuracy (49% FG), and are second in assists (25.2 APG). Over their past five wins, they have been even more stellar on offense, putting up 113.8 PPG on 51.4% FG. PG Tony Parker (17.5 PPG, 6.2 APG) scored 18 points with seven assists in his last contest after averaging just 8.0 PPG and 4.5 APG in his previous two. Parker has performed well against L.A. this season in two games, netting 15.5 PPG (68% FG) to go along with 5.0 APG. PF Tim Duncan (15.1 PPG, 9.9 RPG, 1.9 BPG) has shown his age of late, averaging just 10.0 PPG (43% FG) over the past five games, and scored only nine points with eight rebounds in the one contest he played against the Lakers this season. Over 55 career games against them he has been stellar though, averaging 19.1 PPG (46% FG) and 11.1 RPG. SG Manu Ginobili (12.5 PPG, 4.4 APG) has scored 21+ points in three of his past five games and went 8-for-11 from the field for 21 points in his most recent game. His 13.5 PPG (50% FG) and 3.5 APG in the two games against Los Angeles this season have helped the team to two victories.

Being in the Western Conference, the Lakers offense has benefited from playing teams with similar run-and-gun mentalities, and they are averaging 101.8 PPG (12th in NBA), including an uptick of 104.2 PPG (41% FG) over their past five games. They really struggle on defense though, allowing the second-most points (108.4 PPG) in the league this season, including a mind-blowing 127.2 PPG (50% FG) in their past five contests. PF Pau Gasol (17.7 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 1.5 BPG) leads the team in both scoring rebounding, while putting together a double-double in two of his past three games. He had one of those double-doubles against the Spurs in his last game, scoring 18 points while grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking four shots; bringing his averages over two contests against L.A. to 19.0 PPG (49% FG), 11.0 RPG and 3.0 BPG. SG Jodie Meeks (15.3 PPG, 40% threes) has come back down to earth since hitting for a career-high 42 points against the Thunder on March 9, and has averaged 17.0 PPG on 11-of-32 FG (34%) in two games since. He has scored 14.5 PPG (39% FG) to go along with 4.0 RPG and 1.5 SPG against San Antonio on the season. SG Kent Bazemore (4.9 PPG, 1.6 RPG) has seen plenty of minutes since joining L.A. in late March and has posted 13.0 PPG (44% FG) with 4.6 RPG in seven March contests. He made only 3-of-9 shots for 10 points last week when he faced the Spurs, but has averaged only 8.5 MPG in six career games against them.
