BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Trency Jackson scored a game-high 16 points, including a pair of free throws with 6 seconds to play, Wednesday night to lead Western Kentucky past Southern Miss 68-65.

Southern Miss (9-2) made seven of its nine 3-point shots after halftime and Jerrold Brooks hit his fifth and final 3-pointer with 1:13 remaining to pull the Golden Eagles within three, 64-61. Following a WKU timeout, Southern Miss got a stop and Neil Watson sank a pair of free throws, making it a one-point game.

The Golden Eagles were forced to foul and T.J. Price, who finished with 15 points, extended the Hilltoppers' lead to 66-63 with 22 seconds left.

Ten seconds later, Watson found Michael Craig for a layup but, after Brooks fouled, Jackson's free throws were the game's final points.

George Fant scored 15 for WKU, which made 26 of 30 free throws.

Brooks finished with 15 points.
