The Arizona Diamondbacks have not fared well at home of late. A visit from the struggling Colorado Rockies could change that.

Looking to get back on track at Chase Field, the Diamondbacks try for a sixth consecutive home victory over the Rockies on Friday night.

Arizona (73-72) has totaled 16 runs while losing five of seven at home. The Diamondbacks concluded a 3-4 trip with a 4-1 victory over NL West-leading Los Angeles on Wednesday.

They own a 29-6 scoring advantage during their five-game home winning streak against the Rockies (67-80), who are 26-49 on the road and 1-5 on a nine-game trip. Colorado lost 4-3 to San Francisco on Wednesday.

"I told our guys that sometimes the reward you get for competing hard is you get your heart broken," manager Walt Weiss told the Rockies' official website.

Arizona star first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who had four hits and two RBIs on Wednesday, went 5 for 10 with a home run and five RBIs as the Diamondbacks swept a three-game home set from Colorado in early July.

Goldschmidt leads the NL with 109 RBIs and is among the league leaders with 31 home runs - both career highs.

"To do what he's done from an RBI standpoint and a home run standpoint, and with the other things he does - great defense, great base runner - he's one of the more underrated complete players in all of baseball," Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis said.

While Goldschmidt continues to earn consideration for NL MVP honors, Colorado's Michael Cuddyer is hitting .334 and has his sights set on the NL batting crown. The versatile veteran went 6 for 9 with two homers and four RBIs in the past two games against the Giants.

"I've felt comfortable in the box and when I'm getting pitches to hit, I don't miss them," said Cuddyer, who has never batted higher than .284 in his previous 12 seasons.

Cuddyer, however, is 4 for 23 with a homer against Arizona's Brandon McCarthy (4-9, 4.66 ERA).

Though McCarthy went 0-1 with a 7.50 ERA in two April starts against the Rockies, he's posted a 1.88 ERA and walked one while winning two of three starts overall. The right-hander allowed a run in eight innings of a 2-1 victory at San Francisco on Saturday.

"For me I have to have command and if I am not using everything and using it to both sides of the plate it becomes a much easier job for teams to hit me,'' McCarthy said.

He'll be opposed by Tyler Chatwood (7-4, 3.17), who allowed a run in six innings of a 2-1 loss at San Diego on Saturday, not getting a decision. The right-hander rebounded well after lasting two innings and taking a line drive off the thumb against Cincinnati on Sept. 1 in his first start since missing a month with elbow inflammation.

Chatwood went 2-0 with a 3.52 ERA against the Diamondbacks last season.
