- What seeds are the best hopes for an upset in the First Round? Historically, the #9 & #10 seeds. Since ’98, these teams have split their games with the #8 & #9 seeds, 16 to 16.

StatFox Scuffle: Upsets, Upsets…Let’s Talk Favorites!With all of the talk this week by experts about which lower seeds can pull the upsets on Thursday and Friday, StatFox figured it would try the opposite approach and analyze which favorites are likeliest to take care of business. After all, favorites covering a spread are just as important to the ATS bettor as underdogs. StatFox Doug and StatFox Steve each list a handful of games where they feel the chalk has he edge. For instance Doug seems to be looking at the favorites in the Wichita State - Seton Hall & Georgetown - Northern Iowa games among others, while Steve has similar thoughts about the Texas - Pennsylvania & Illinois - Air Force games. FREE FoxSheets: SIU-WVU Game on Friday, another on Sunday!!One of the more intriguing games of the first round matches a pair of tournament-experienced teams in Southern Illinois and West Virginia. SIU comes in at 22-10, champion of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The Mountaineers meanwhile, stumbled down the stretch but received an at-large berth via their 20-10 mark out of the Big East. StatFox is offering this competitive matchup as its FREE FoxSheet of the Week. Tip-off for this contest is set for Friday at 2:45 PM ET from Auburn Hills, MI. Will this be the start of another tournament run by 3pt happy West Virginia, or will the Salukies do the MVC proud by reach round two? Find out by viewing our FREE NCAA First Round FoxSheet. WVU opened as a 4-point favorite, with the total sitting around 115.
