NFL Kickoff 2005
An offseason of new TV deals, key retirements, free agent signings, near-holdouts, and coaching changes is behind us and it's now time to focus on some football! Fittingly, the league's best team, New England, got the season kicked off familiarly with a home win over Oakland on Thursday night. As the Patriots seek their fourth Super Bowl title in five years, it seems that the only thing that could stop them is themselves. However, even without both of their coordinators from the recent run, Bill Belichick still seems to have his team at the top of its game. Indianapolis, as well as a host of other AFC teams with legitimate postseason aspirations, figure to challenge New England. In the NFC, the most formidable foe figures to be Philadelphia, whom like New England, has been able to thrive in this era of free agency by seemingly making all of the right personnel moves. Carolina and Minnesota seem to be on a lot of experts' radars as potential surprise teams in 2005 as well. Elsewhere, a trio of up and comers in Arizona, Cincinnati, and Detroit could make some noise and at the same time, the consensus seems to point to declines expected in Green Bay, St. Louis, and Denver.

FREE Pro Football FoxSheet, Dallas at San Diego
The pro football season will already be well under way when Dallas travels to San Diego on Sunday at 4:05 PM ET. These teams represent the most recent years' surprises in the NFL, as Dallas rallied in 2003 to make the playoffs and San Diego did the same last year. The Cowboys dropped off significantly in 2004 though, falling to 6-10 while struggling badly on defense. Many experts expect a similar decline in San Diego this year. FREE College Football FoxSheet, Texas at Ohio State
One of the most highly anticipated football matchups at these two prestigious universities is scheduled to kickoff at 8:00 PM ET as Texas visits the Horseshoe in Columbus to take on the Buckeyes. The Longhorns opened the season in fine fashion last wee with a 60-3 win. Ohio State also won its first game in impressive fashion over Miami Ohio. Both teams are national championship contenders and are led by megastars, Texas by Qb Vince Young and Ohio State by WR Ted Ginn. With all the hype going in, this game figures to be huge.
