Kansas City at Denver The consensus favorites for the 2004-05 AFC West division title square off in the NFL kickoff weekend, as Kansas City visits rival Denver. The Chiefs won the division by three games a year ago, finishing the regular season at 13-3. They were just 2-4 ATS in division play however, and failed to cover either game against the Broncos. In the later game at Invesco Field, now departed running back Clinton Portis rushed for 5 TD's! Denver comes off a 10-7 season in which it covered the spread in all six division games! Nevada at Louisiana Tech The conference season starts early for rivals Louisiana Tech and Nevada, as they meet in a potential Labor Day shootout in Shreveport, LA. The two schools have met in each of the last three years and Tech has edged Nevada in all three games. The host Bulldogs were 5-7 a year ago and are just 5-10-1 ATS over the last two years in conference play. Nevada, who comes off a 6-6 season in 2003, has gone 6-2-1 ATS in its last nine road games.
